The Hague to the Osa 

In 2024, Lubna, founder of The Salty Jungle Family, and Thomas made a life-changing decision. Tired of the fast-paced, concrete jungle of The Hague in the Netherlands, they packed up their lives and ventured across the globe to the lush, untouched beauty of the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica. Their journey wasn’t just about changing scenery—it was about healing, rediscovery, and building a dream in the heart of nature.
 

Lubna, recovering from a burnout, needed space, time, and a change of pace. The demands of life in the Netherlands had taken a toll, and it was time to step away from the pressures that had worn her down. Thomas, having recently sold his successful surf shop after a falling-out with his business partner, was also ready for a fresh start—one that didn’t just promise tranquility but also allowed for reconnection with nature and personal growth.
 

The Salty Jungle Family

The Salty Jungle Family (TSJF) began as Lubna’s vision: a mission to share the essence of the Osa Peninsula by blending the raw beauty of the jungle with the calming influence of the sea. With dreams of building a sustainable and welcoming hospitality brand, the first ventures came to life:
 

• Don Jiménez Guesthouse – A welcoming guesthouse in the heart of Puerto Jiménez, offering comfort and connection close to town and nature.

• Osa Spirit – An experience and tour agency curating soulful adventures, from cacao ceremonies to jungle treks and ocean explorations.

• Salty Jungle Stays – Property management services that care for local homes and rentals with the same love and respect as the jungle itself.

• Costa Rica Pacific Real Estate - specializes in properties along the Pacific coast, offering tropical homes, investment opportunities in the most biodiverse regions in the world. The focus is on connecting clients with unique real estate options that embrace the natural beauty and lifestyle of Costa Rica.
   

The story of TSJF is one of passion, perseverance, and deep respect for the environment. More than just places to stay, these projects are havens of connection—designed to let guests experience the Osa Peninsula in its full beauty, diversity, and serenity.
 

As the umbrella brand for multiple hospitality ventures based in Puerto Jiménez, the Salty Jungle Family is equally committed to sustainable tourism, community collaboration, and supporting local businesses.

 

A Vision for the Future

What began as Lubna’s dream of a simpler, more fulfilling life has grown into The Salty Jungle Family—a small but passionate hospitality brand rooted in sustainability, community, and the magic of the Osa Peninsula.
 

From welcoming travelers at Don Jiménez Guesthouse (Corcovado) to guiding soulful adventures with Osa Spirit, Lubna’s mission is to share the beauty of the Osa in authentic, meaningful ways.

Looking ahead, her dream of opening Osa Jungla Ecolodge—a boutique retreat in the rainforest—remains a top priority, with plans to open by 2026, depending on land and investor opportunities. Another vision close to her heart is The French Bakery, bringing the taste of fresh French bread and pastries to Puerto Jiménez.

Through every step, The Salty Jungle Family is guided by respect for nature, support for the local community, and a desire to create spaces where guests can slow down, reconnect, and experience the true spirit of the Osa.
